For the second game in a row, the Highlands varsity softball team didn’t allow a hit.

Junior Jaycee Haidze pitched five no-hit innings and recorded 12 strikeouts and walked two in the Golden Rams 10-0 win against Valley.

Highlands jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning on RBI hits by Cassidy Kambal and Kylie Zourelias. Kambal recorded two hits on the day.

The big inning came in the fourth when the Golden Rams scored five runs. Sophomore Abbie Deiseroth led the inning off with her third home run of the season. Deiseroth finished the game 3-for-3.

Jocelyn Celko, Jess Cekada and Mara Williams also picked up RBI hits in the inning.

Cekada ended the game in the fifth with another base hit, scoring two runs to invoke the 10 run rule.

Also picking up hits in the win for the Golden Rams were Haidze, Riley Pointkowski and Peyton Smalley.

Highlands will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Hampton in a non-section game at 4:30 PM.
